State of the ARC announcement! So do you remember how last time I talked about maybe a State of the ARC bingo? Well, it’s happening! I’ve decided to make it 9 prompts and have it last till the end of the year. The bingo is made up of items that we are all likely to find in our stack of ARCs (so no genres or anything too specific). You can all grab the image and cross out the items as you go through your own State of the ARC every month. Yay or nay?
Image of the State of the ARC bingo, items are: ARC with your favorite color cover, ARC of a debut book, Your oldest ARC, #ownvoices ARC, A nonfiction ARC, An overdue ARC, ARC with sensitive social issues, A fluffy and happy ARC, A new to you genre ARC
If you’ve read something from this bingo already during June, you totally get to cross out the item! This month, I am crossing out nonfiction, because I read Real Quanta:
Disclaimer: we are just playing this for our own challenges and achievements! There are no prizes 😉 sorry! But of course, you can think of your prize as our eternal respect for conquering your TBR. Everyone who participates gets that xD
~ For Those Who Are New To The Meme ~
Anyone is free to participate in this meme! If you want to, just link up anytime during this month and refer to this page as to the rules of what to put in your post and how to link up. The next State of the ARC post is going to be on July 30, so if you can’t make this one, mark it down!
~ My Current State of the ARC ~
So… About the stats. Yeah… I finally hauled some books at the end of the month xD so my numbers have not gone down as significantly as they would have if I hadn’t hauled anything, but… They still went down! Last month, my overall count was around 90, and now it’s only slightly above 80!! That’s some real progress this month. How did your ARC reading go?
~ Bricks Knocked Down ~
Most of those numbers came from April, when I read 19 books – I wasn’t as strong at my reading game this month or the last. But nonetheless, here are the bricks for this month – 8 ARCs finished, 5 of them already reviewed, and 3 pending. Yay!
The ARCs that totally rocked:
I will not waste anyone’s time highlighting the ones I didn’t like, so instead, take a look at the ones I really liked. I have probably raved about The Calculating Stars to everyone already – but just in case you haven’t heard why I loved it so much, read the review here. And Real Quanta, Goodreads link on the image, is a great popular science nonfiction book about quantum physics, and I will be reviewing it soon.
~ Let’s Get Motivated! ~
Actually, this month I don’t think I have ARCs that I’m too excited about? Or maybe I’m just too lazy to look. What are the ones that you’re excited about?
That’s my ARC June! What has yours been like? And will you be joining the #ARCsAnonymous bingo?
I’m Evelina and I try to blog about books that matter, with a bit of fun there too! Disability and equality will be topics you see a lot, but there’s also a lot of scifi, fantasy and… GIFs. I’m also the proud founder of #ARCsAnonymous.
BINGO! I love bingo, how fun is this!!!
I knew you’d love it! 🙂
Congrats on those bricks gone and I loved your review of The Calculating Stars 🙂 Looks like such an amazing book.
I’m looking forward to the bingo game!
Thank you!
You did make a dent in your ARCs if you keep it up, you might be able to get it down a lot!
I am excited to participate in the Bingo, it sounds like a lot of fun
Yeah, it seems so 🙂 just as long as I don’t request too many more 😀 haha. Thanks for giving me half the bingo ideas! 🙂 it was your comment in the group that gave me half of those prompts 🙂
[…] I just couldn’t miss another State of the ARC (I did last month), especially now that Evelina has announced the ARC BINGO! BTW, this is linked with Evelina’s State of the ARC meme and you can learn more about this […]
I love the ARC bingo! I already have a couple I can cross off from this month 🙂 I think for July I’m most looking forward to finally reading Damsel and The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. They’ve both been sitting on my shelves all spring but I haven’t had the time to read them until now! Congrats on making progress Evelina, including a nice little book haul ♥
I knew you’d love it 🙂 I tried making them pretty universal so everyone could take part 🙂 thank you! I hope you like those two books you mentioned 🙂 we should catch up! I’ve bee missing our buddy read talks 😀
What a fun idea! Of course mine would all fall into the “overdue” haha.
Haha, you have no idea how long my overdue list is 😀
Maybe one day we can have a who’s overdue list is bigger contest
xD well, I have like 70 overdue ones… 😀
Okay, yours is bigger haha 😉
Winning at “badness” can also be good I guess xDDDD
I like the idea of a bingo!! I like the squares as well, although I’m not sure “new to you genre” is something that should be in a monthly bingo, because it would be pretty difficult to read a new genre every month – even if you read very diversely, you’d run out of genres eventually 🙂 It’s still okay if I post my State of the ARC on the 1st of July and link up then, right? I want to post it together with my regular monthly wrap-up (and maybe that way I still have a chance of finishing… Read more »
I’m so glad to hear that 🙂 oh no, it’s not a monthly bingo – it’s for the half a year! So it’s just one new genre for a half a year 😀 you get to keep the same bingo sheet till winter 🙂 much more effective 😀 And it’s definitely fine to post your State for the entire month and then link up 🙂 basically, whenever you want, but it’s most effective in the first week, of course. And I’d love to hear your opinion about the Calculating Stars! It was SUCH an awesome book. I’ve already got the… Read more »
OMG, yes! Bingo is a huge motivator for me.
Glad to hear! It really does make things easier 🙂
This is a wonderful idea! I have actually been looking for a bingo to do this year so I am definitely all over this!!
Glad to hear! I am happy I finally worked out something that everyone can join 🙂
You did a great job this month! And Bingo is a great idea!!! <3
Thank you! 🙂
I saw this on Goodreads! Such a neat idea! <3
I’m glad you like it! I hope you’ll participate too 🙂
[…] finally, we have Evelina @ Avalinahs Books who has come up with a State of the ARC bingo! It’s a year long prompt to help you cut down […]
Ah, this is so cool!
I don’t actually have non fiction or fluffy arcs tho… hmm, maybe i find something that fits 😀
Well, there’s a whole half a year, so maybe in a few months you will, who knows 😀 worst case xD one with a fluffy character? 😀
[…] Evelina – Avalinah’s Books […]
i love the bingo idea and i cant wait to try and fill some of it out 🙂
Glad to hear 🙂
Oh how fun! I don’t have that many ARCs to read, actually, which is nice because I’m trying to read more of the books that I already own.
Same! I just need to be finished with the ARCs and then I can do that too 😀
[…] [Meme] State of the ARC #11 + ARC BINGO!! […]
Ooh! I wasn’t expecting the bingo to happen so soon, haha. Can’t wait to check some books off of that!
I’m glad to hear 🙂
ARC Bingo sounds like so much fun! I cannot wait to make a spreadsheet so I can participate. <3
L @ Do You Dog-ear?
I’m so glad to hear you’ll be participating! 🙂
I’m yet to join State of the ARC but it’s a fantastic meme and the name is great! Bingo sounds exciting. I don’t really get many ARCs.
Yeah, it’s a fun way to motivate yourself 🙂
Fun fact: I’ve never done a reading Bingo! I’m super excited to try this out. Perhaps this will inspire me to read more than my original planned ARCs? We shall see… I’ll definitely be participating next month AND including my June read. (Totally not cheating…) As always, I’m blown away by the number of ARCs you read in a month. Perhaps a future buddy read should be moving you on the way to remove those ARCs, eh? 😉 The Calculating Stars is on my TBR. I’m so glad you loved it! I need to scoot back on post to read… Read more »
It might be my first bingo too! I say might because I did some readathon with one when I just started out, but I don’t remember if I did the bingo, or just the readathon. Oh, you have The Calculating Stars! OMG, yes, please read it – it’s just soooooo good.
So I haven’t done a separate post this month too, but I am so excited for the ARC bingo. I have included it in my monthly wrap-up post. I hope it counts 🙂
It’s really amazing how far you have come with your ARCs status. Really happy for you.
I’m glad to hear it 🙂 I hope you can participate in the ARCs bingo, I think it’s an easier way for us all to take part in this. Yes, of course it counts 🙂 I mostly made it for the wrap-ups anyway.
And thank you!
I missed the last one I signed up for but I wrote this one down in like three different places so I’ve got this! I may have been a little over ambitious with my summer reading goals though.
I can’t find your post though!! Your link just went to your general website link?
Omg! I didn’t occur to me to write the link of the post instead of the website link. *facepalm* Thanks for visiting and tracking it down. Should I update the link for the next one?
I guess my reply is irrelevant now cause this was aaaaages ago xD but yeah I guess you always have to use the post link 😀
BINGO! I love bingo boards haha! Thank you for inviting me to this – this may sound very silly but I always love seeing the posts but I wasn’t sure if it was open for anyone and everyone to join in randomly, so I never thought to just… you know, ASK, lol! I will totally be joining in, though ♥
It’s totally open to everyone and we are SO glad to have you 🙂 can’t wait to see your stack!!
