Well, this has been a week… I could make a checkers board out of the things that happened! For every good thing there’s a bad thing, but of course, for every bad thing, there’s a good thing… So quite a week! And also, I have something really important to ask you. If you’re following me on WordPress, can you please, please PLEASE follow me on Bloglovin’ too? Because right now, my Jetpack is broken, and my WordPress followers are not seeing my posts on the reader or getting notifications. I don’t know how long it will take me to solve it, but you can still see my posts on Bloglovin’! So please, be kind and loving and follow me there, cause now I’m fretting that all my work is going to waste.
But sad things aside, let’s see my checker board of things that happened this week!
- well… I realized my Jetpack broke so nobody’s getting post notifications. Sad thing.
- I got on Paperfury’s blog tour though! Happy thing.
- My Instagram broke (and I think, so did everyone else’s?) I can’t make it share posts to Twitter. I also can’t see to be able to grab the embed codes! Has this been happening to you? Instagram, get your stuff together!! Sad thing.
- Despite my Jetpack actually being broken, my follows are going up. Ironic, but a happy thing.
- I had a real meltdown at the start of the week. I had to fit five working days into three because I was going to a conference on Thursday/Friday. Couple that with two nights of intermittent sleep, and I was back with a sick throat, dehydrated and horribly exhausted. Then I found out about the blog being broken. I literally cried buckets at that point and my health suffered quite a blow. The worst thing I was worried about though wasn’t that MY posts are not being distributed – it was the fact that I was letting down people – Cait who’s blog tour I just agreed to be on and all the #NewBloggers that I’m introducing this week. So please, please, PLEASE – share my posts! I really need your help right now. And if you’re not following me on Bloglovin’ yet, please do so. I am really sad that my followers won’t be alerted to my new posts! So… Sad thing.
- But! Despite said stress and overwork, I did end up going to the conference, and it was great. Happy thing!
- But due to it all, I am behind on my most recent ARC and my buddy read with Jackie @ Death By Tsundoku. Sad thing.
- I also settled on doing a Q&A with Cait @ Paperfury next week! Super happy thing! (Expect it on the 19th.)
- I won a giveaway. But I live in the wrong country for it. So I have unwon it. Sad, sad thing. It was signed as well. Just #international Evelina things. I guess I might have not noticed it wasn’t INTL.
- And in regards to the conference, something really funny and cool happened (definitely a happy thing). As Instagram is broken, I am embedding the tweet, to read the full story, just go to the tweet and click the Instagram link. It’s worth it!
So have I got the story for you! As you might know, I was in a tech/business/creativity conference for the past few days of the last week. Despite it being completely unconnected with books, a lot of bookish stuff actually happened…https://t.co/oDDkRUS2y5#login2018 pic.twitter.com/p5HOvcxT4I

~ Last Week On The Blog ~
Well, I suppose the good thing about the blog follows breaking is that I’m actually finally reducing my posts per week, and so overloading myself less? I don’t see the point of posting too often, if I’ll be losing a portion of my views. Nonetheless! Quality over quantity, as I had two reviews of books I LOVED last week: Spinning Silk, an Asian folklore inspired book that was really really cool (check it out!!) and of course, Cait’s A Thousand Perfect Notes, which I adored with all my heart, and you can see why here. Both books recommended!
~ Coming Up Next Week~
I’m also incredibly excited about the review for The Freeze-Frame Revolution, cause if you’re a scifi fan? You better just pre-order it BEFORE my review, it was that great. THAT GREAT! And of course, possibly even more excited about the second edition of the #NewBloggersWelcome – please, everyone, share the #NewBloggers post when it comes out on Friday! Remember, you’re not doing this for me – you’re doing this for the newbies that need all of your love and support!

~ Little Book Haul ~
Originally, I only hauled two books this week. But since last week I did my monthly wrap-up, I didn’t get a chance to showcase these. So this is a two-week haul!
~ In The Bookish Community ~
Chloe @ Book Dragons wrote this wonderful post about how sometimes predictable books are great, and I totally agree!
Danielle @ Books, Vertigo and Tea celebrates her second blogoversary and has a giveaway!
Joce @ Write Through the Night posted the blog awards winners and OMG I won a category!
So how has your week been? And what are you reading? What did you haul?
As usual, I’m linking up with the Sunday post meme at Kimba’s book blog and Stacking The Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews.
I’m Evelina and I try to blog about books that matter, with a bit of fun there too! Disability and equality will be topics you see a lot, but there’s also a lot of scifi, fantasy and… GIFs. I’m also the proud founder of #ARCsAnonymous.
Awww thanks for the post share girl! Hopefully the jetpack problem gets sorted soon! Sending hugs and love, bad weeks suck but at least yours was a checkerboard 🙂
It’s finally sorted, thank god! And I can never share your posts fast enough, you’ve always got good new ones 😀 keep rocking it!
I just came to find you because your posts weren’t showing up in my feed! I suddenly realised I hadn’t seen you in a week or so and that was very unusual. I’m glad you’re still here and (mostly) okay!
I’m sorry it’s been a shitty week. I hope next week is a better one for you. Try not to stress too hard about your blog – it’ll all get sorted out, I’m sure. And if I noticed you’re gone and came to find out what was happening I’m certain your other followers will as well. It’ll be okay!
Aw, it’s SO sweet of you to do that, OMG! I am tearing up. Thank you <3 thankfully, the blog is now fixed and showing up on the feed. I can't believe you actually noticed that my posts were missing. I am so touched.
I follow you by email so my post delivery hasn’t been interupted I’m sorry about all your blog/Instagram woes. Been there! Have a lovely week, Evelina
Good to hear that! Every follower that wasn’t lost makes me happy <3 and thank you 🙂
Wow, what an on-off week of good/bad things. I guess if we can get one good thing for every bad one, we can be grateful.
Hope everything sorts out soon! Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
Thanks 🙂
Hurray for getting on that blog tour! So much fun!! I’m glad you had a good time at the conference, but I hope you’re feeling better! Spinning Silk looks really interesting!
Thank you 🙂
OK don’t panic I get all your posts in my email! But I have a question for you: when did Jeptack broke? I mean I always wait 4 to 5 days before updating a plugin (don’t want to have its baby sickness on my blog) and I noticed a new jetpack update yesterday or the day before yesterday. As it was recent I did not update yet…and if it caused your problems I won’t update before they issue a new version! Now about IG you say it does not let you share on Twitter anymore but I had no idea… Read more »
My Jetpack breaking was due to an SSL certificate problem, so you should be fine updating it.
Also, the sitemap thing won’t work – I’ve had submitted and resubmitted by sitemap for the past year – with the help of actual SEO specialists, and Google just does not do anything about it. It’s always pending. None of the specialists knows what it’s all about. It never stopped my blog from being visible on the reader though.
I really want to read the Luna series. I have an ARC of book two, I just need to get my hands on book one… I hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for visiting Shell’s Stories!
Book one might still be on sale for the Kindle! So do check 🙂 it was last week.
I seem to be getting your post notifications, but I subscribed by email. I hate Bloglovin – sorry.
I’m sorry it’s been such a crazy week. Life is just like that. I have my own issues, which I won’t mention, but make me feel down or frustrated if I think about them. They are things I can’t change or solve, out of my control. If I control it, that’s one thing because I can work on it, improve things. Anyway, great books and happy reading this week! Anne – Books of My Heart
Don’t tell anyone, but I sort of hate Bloglovin’ too 😀 thank you for subbing! Actually, email works for some odd reason – just not the reader. It’s pretty baffling.
Thank you!
Sounds like you had kind of an up and down kinda week. At least the ups out weigh the downs. Hope you have a great week. 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
I’m thinking about moving my blog to WP. I actually have my blog there, but I never really got it going there. If I can figure out a way to move my Blogger blog there….
I wondered why I was unable to link my Instagram to Twitter. I guess it is broken!
Have a great week.
It is broken! And do check out my NewBloggers post series, I had a guest post instruction for moving your blog from Blogger to WordPress 🙂
You’re not wrong about it being a chequered week! That’s a real roller-coaster… I’m glad the conference went well and sorry you were so stressed. I’ve been away for a couple of days and realised I’m pushing myself very hard – probably too hard. So have also decided to cut myself some slack:). I hope the coming week is easier, Evelina:))
Thank you 🙂 yeah, I absolutely know what you mean. It’s been busy for me too!
I know it has been stressful for you, and I am so glad you are at least celebrating the good with the bad! I hope everything gets fixed soon; for the meantime I turned on email notifications for your new posts in my WP reader, hopefully that will work!
Thank you, Kaleena 🙂 BTW, you are an awesome friend 🙂 I hope everything gets fixed too! Or at least I learn to deal with the stress better, gah -.- and thank you for your support during my blog issue times! Thankfully it’s all back to normal now 🙂
Sorry your week was so up and down but glad you had some good to go with the bad.
Have a great week Evelina! Happy Reading!
Thank you!
What a nice category to win. Congratulations on your book blogger award. You had quite a roller coaster of a week. I hope next week is less “eventful” for you. That’s such a bummer about your win/loss. They should make sure they specify countries eligible for the giveaway.
Thank you! Oh well, no worries, right after that I actually won another giveaway so it’s okay! That never happens too, so I feel like the universe was just trying to make me feel better 🙂
I hate JetPack and refuse to use it..lol I hope things get sorted. Do you have an email subscription? I use Feedburner and its 100% free and reliable. They send those who subscribe a new email every time I post.
My email sub is also Jetpack powered xD most people just like following by WordPress, which is why I have Jetpack. My actual email followers are only like 30 – and the WP ones are like 500.
What an awful/ good week you’ve had. I hope you can fix your blog soon! I know how stressful it can be when it’s not working.
Thank you 🙂 yeah, thankfully it’s fixed now!
Sorry about your tough week. I also sometimes get so overstressed.
It may not just be Jetpack. I think that other systems like Feedburner are not working right. I suspect that it might be related to the new EU privacy rules. Blogluvin or other Blog readers are the way to go.
I hope that this week is better for you.
Thankfully, we got it fixed and it was just Jetpack this time 🙂 but yes, you’re right, a lot of malfunctions lately due to GDPR!
Thank you 🙂
Geez, sorry about all the trouble with the blog. I know what that is like and the crying about it. I am sorry. I hope you are feeling better and glad the conference was good. Here is to hoping this week is better!
Mary
Thank you 🙂 yeah, thankfully the blog is now fixed (although now I’ve got way more serious problems, but ah..)
I have a jetpack update pending right now. I usually wait a bit for doing it as they have messed me up before. Hope yours gets sorted out soon. I already follow on bloglovin. Learned to follow my blog buddies every way I can after I had my email hacked before. And i;s always a pleasure to share your posts!
My Sunday Post
Mine’s finally sorted, thankfully 🙂 support sorted it! I don’t think you should worry about the update – my update went well 🙂 it wasn’t the problem xD so you should be fine!
Aw, thank you! <3
Sorry about the blog problems. That’s so frustrating. My Instagram broke last week, too. The app has been doing strange things on Android phones. I keep having to update the app and restart the phone to make it work. I hope this week is better for you. I’ll share some of your posts on Twitter.
My Instagram is actually broken too! Can’t share anything to Twitter. So annoying! I haven’t posted much on there for that reason. Only on Instagram stories.
And thanks for sharing stuff while my blog was broken 🙂 it’s finally fixed!
It does sound like your week was full of ups and downs. I hope you get your jetpack problem fixed soon. I am still not receiving comment approval notifications via e-mail which is a big headache. I do hope Blogger gets that fixed soon. Yay to winning–but boo to not being in the right country. I hope you have a great week, Evelina. Enjoy your new books! They all sound so good.
Thankfully, the Jetpack problem got fixed last week! Very happy about that 🙂 and thank you!
Awww…sorry to hear about your computer troubles. I remembered that I had to stay off the internet for days because my laptop decided to go wonky at the last second. I hope that things get better for you!
Thank you 🙂
Sorry that you have had a week of ups and downs. It seems like keep a blog running can take up so much time. I stopped getting emails when someone comments on my blog so I have to keep checking but I guess that is minor. I hope this week is all good for you!
Maybe minor, but still quite annoying! I actually should probably turn off the emails I get when they comment on my blog, cause I just delete them all and check on the blog anyway xD
Well I hope the happy things outweigh the sad things THIS week Evelina!
Luna looks good, I remember seeing that one around.
Happy week to you!!
Thank you!
Oh, I love that cover for Body Swap. I hadn’t even noticed that Instagram was messing up (because I haven’t posted in ages, I need to fix that). Hopefully this coming week is slightly less eventful for you.
Have a great week.
I will agree that it was mostly a cover grab for me too 🙂 but I actually just finished Body Swap and it was a good book! Certainly enjoyable.
Thank you!
That conference news is SO COOL! I’m glad the week could end on a little bit of a high note after all the stress that work, the blog, and Instagram decided to pile on you. If you didn’t know, btw, your posts are also still showing up on Feedly 🙂 And checkerboard…I like how you describe it I’ll say a prayer to the WordPress gods that your Jetpack malfunctions are solved soon ♥♥
Yeah, thankfully Feedly never broke! My main worry was that it was 38 people on Feedly seeing me but 500 on WordPress not seeing me xD xD that’s finally fixed now though, and I’m very glad. I guess your prayers worked then 😀 thank you!
I think things are broken after the GDPR thing went live… Blogger used to email me whenever someone commented, but now I don’t get those emails. I’ve spoken with a few other people on Twitter, and they no longer get the emails either. It makes me wonder what else isn’t working that we just aren’t aware of yet! I hope your Jetpack issues resolve themselves soon, and I already follow you via Bloglovin’. <3
L @ Do You Dog-ear?
Yeah, I’ve heard that Blogger stopped emailing the notifications, which is incredibly annoying I can imagine. Maybe it’s like some check box you have to check somewhere in your settings? Thankfully, my blog issues got resolved 🙂 thank you! Oh, and thank you for the Bloglovin’ follow!
Sounds like a crazy week! I hope this one is much better and you figure out the Jetpack. I hate when things get messed up with my blog. Thanks for stopping by!
Thankfully it finally got fixed! Thank you 🙂
Hope the new weeks fares better for you and enjoy your little haul.
Thank you!
Sorry about all the Jetpack stuff, Evelina. Luckily I’m already a Bloglovin’ follower. 😉 And don’t let all the blog stuff get to your head! Your health comes first. ♥ AND CONGRATS ON THE BLOGGER AWARD WIN! So well-deserved!!! ♥
– Aimee @ Aimee, Always
Yeah! I really started prizing the Bloglovin’ follows after this… Thankfully, the blog has been fixed, finally 🙂 and thank you!
IT’S BEEN TOO LONG! I haven’t posted a weekly recap in so long (and I’m finally posting it now haha).
Gosh, why is your weekly recap always so longggg? You blogging life is so much more interesting than mine *sob*
And don’t worry too much about trying to go back onto your blogging game, I’m in the process of doing so right now (after a longggg pause to focus on school), so it’s common. Don’t’ freak out! Everything would be fine (especially for your blog, with such a big audience).
Have a great week!
I just said that on your blog in a comment, literally! It’s been TOO long!! Glad you’re back. Are you off school for the summer?
Haha, I don’t know if it’s too long because of my blogging life or just because I talk a lot about my actual real life troubles xD
Thank you, Anne <3
Ahhh yes, my summer started on the beginning of June (which is why I’m furiously working on my blog ONCE again).
I’m glad to hear that! Means you will be back for a while 🙂
Oh my word, that much have been so frustrating! ❤️
I hope your technology issues will finally be sorted out. It’s so frustrating when things that are meant to ‘make our lives better / easier’ start doing the opposite. Crossing my fingers for you!
And yay to your last point, looking forward to hearing more about it.
Yeah, it was! Thankfully, it’s now solved. Blog issues can indeed cause a lot of nerves. Thank you 🙂
Sorry about all the sad things that happened, Evelina! But I’m so jealous you got on the blog tour for Cait’s book, so there’s that?? I’ll try and share your posts on Twitter if that helps.
Thank you! Thankfully, the blog problems are now solved. Yeah, I was glad to be on Cait’s tour for sure 🙂
What a rollercoaster of a week! Fingers crossed the next couple of weeks are calmer for you. Tech breakdowns are the worst because often there’s absolutely nothing we can do to fix stuff ourselves
Thank you 🙂 I am also hoping for clearer skies.
Book for all the bad stuff! I had a week a bit like that. 🙁
Fingers crossed this week is much better!
Thank you!
Unwinning might just be the saddest thing ever :'(
I know right! But it’s okay, cause I won one more right away to make up for it, haha 😀
Man last week was a mess for me, too, although it was honestly mostly bad stuff. I rested this weekend, though, and feel ready to take on the world again. Lol. Spinning Silk looks interesting. I love folklore. Happy reading!
Thank you 🙂 hope you had a better week!
Wow, you really did have a week full of ups and downs. I hope this week all good things happen to you!
I know right… Thank you 🙂
What a mixed bag of a week it was! I hope the notification issue gets sorted out. I’m still have issues with Blogger not sending comment notifications so in some way I feel your pain. 🙁
Thankfully, it’s sorted now 🙂 thanks! Yeah, I’ve heard that people were having that problem. I hope it’s solved by now too 🙂
OI! I see Wildwood in your haul?? That’s so funny! What a small world – I am working for the summer at the public library in the author’s hometown. We have Wildwood for sale and I sold a copy last week 😛 The library copy has a lot of holds so I might have to buy if I want to give it a go. I’ll look forward to you review! (Also, what a hectic week!! I hope you get more of a break this week :))
Wow, nice coincidence 🙂 yeah, I am actually auto-approved with Dundurn, but I sadly missed this release! Then I won the giveaway, and I was like, Wildwood, please 😀 so that worked out well for me, haha.
Awesome!! I just reshelved Wildwood today so maybe we’ve gone through the entire holds list and I should give it a look…
I still haven’t started reading xD
Sounds like a full week and I hope you get everything figured out. It seems like something digital is always broken. lol
sherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes
Thank you 🙂 thankfully, it’s now fixed, although it took a while!
Still no Instagram!? I saw yesterday that they had tweeted that they knew people were having an issue and were working to resolve it. So fingers crossed! I agree about the checkerboard statement. It seems to define life at the moment. But I just power through the hard times knowing something better is waiting around the corner (I think I have cried until my eyes could dry up and fall out over my son leaving). I cannot wait until you post the Q&A! And thanks for sharing the giveaway. Now if I can just find time to announce the winner… Read more »
I’ve pretty much given up on it. It just doesn’t work for me anymore! Argh.
And I do hope better times are coming for us both 🙂
Ooh sorry it was a bit of a high and low week. Sorry to hear about the giveaway win – I really think sometimes people don’t put who giveaways are open to, or it’s not super obvious, and I hate that!
I am now following on Bloglovin. I’m sorry WordPress is being annoying – and I hope lots of people still see your posts!
-Lauren
Oh well, it was a shame I couldn’t get that giveaway win, but the universe made it up for me by letting me win another giveaway right away! I couldn’t even believe it 😀
WordPress finally got fixed for me! But thank you for following me on Bloglovin’ too <3 it's always best to follow everyone on multiple platforms - you never know what might break on their blogs. I certainly know that I'll be doing that from now on.
I hope your Jetpack thing fixes soon. though I already follow you on Bloglovin’ I am not missing any of your posts 🙂
And nice haul. I have requested for the Body Swap too 😀 And it’s amazing to see you requesting a YA book 🙂 I hope we both enjoy it.
Thankfully it’s now fixed! And actually, I didn’t request Body Swap, I just downloaded it 😀 Dundurn happens to be one of the two publishers who have auto-approved me for some reason xD I am not sure why 😀 but whatever, because it makes me happy 😀
Oh goodness. That is quite the week. Hope this coming one has more happy than sad!
This one was mostly better, although I still have some unpleasant things going on. Hoping for a quick and nice resolution though 🙂 thanks!
