So… Where did this week go? AGAIN? Hmmm. Well… I don’t have awesome cake photos to share with you this week, which is too bad, but it was an overall good week. I finally caught up with my blog posts! Now I can finally relax a little bit… Although I know that the next two weekends will be tough and busy, so I probably won’t be able to relax anyway xD oh well!
So, this week in a nutshell:
- I taught another class, and it wasn’t terrible this time. Thank god!
- I failed to NOT haul books this time. Read: I HAULED A LOT.
- But that’s okay, cause I also read a lot! 6 books in a week O_o what..?
- I also basically deep-cleaned the entire house. Apart from just one cupboard.
- If you’re wondering how that, and working is compatible, I’ll just say audiobooks.
- Other than that, I don’t really know where the time went! …So, as per usual.
- I read some amazing books though, I can truly recommend The Long Way Down and All Systems Red! Reviews to come.
~ Last Week On The Blog ~
Last week I posted two reviews and one #NewBloggers 101 post. Rosie Colored Glasses is a heart-breaking story of a child’s love for a mother that is suffering from substance abuse, and also how crippling depression can be. Freshwater is an incredible story of multiple personality disorder, through the lens of mythology and shamanism. And the #NewBloggers content we had was a guest post by Lauren @ Northern Plunder about how you can move from Blogger to free WordPress.
~ Coming Up Next Week~
Coming up next week, we have State of the ARC #7! So if you are planning to link up this month, plan your post sometime next week and come around to link up. I will also be posting a review of Dragon’s Future, a fantasy, obviously, about dragons – well, mostly! And there will also be a great post about what linkups are and how you should harness them – by our beloved Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction.

~ Little Book Haul ~
Weeeeeell… The two weeks before I barely hauled anything. All of you were right! It was more than likely that I would relax and haul more this week. Precisely what happened… Oh well. At least I read a lot of books this month. Maybe I can handle it. Mmmmmaybe.
~ In The Bookish Community ~
Ivy @ Ivyclad Ideas pokes fun at some tropes in an epistolary manner
Marta @ The Cursed Books talks about things that non-readers should just stop doing already
Aimee @ Aimee, Always gives some pointers and hacks on how to style your book reviews
Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight shares some book covers that feature disability
Gayathri @ Elgee Writes shares an awesome list of Finnish books
So how has your week been? And what are you reading? What did you haul?
As usual, I’m linking up with the Sunday post meme at Kimba’s book blog and Stacking The Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews.
I’m Evelina and I try to blog about books that matter, with a bit of fun there too! Disability and equality will be topics you see a lot, but there’s also a lot of scifi, fantasy and… GIFs. I’m also the proud founder of #ARCsAnonymous.
6 books! Wow. Oh and I loved All Systems Red. All hail the awesome Murderbot lol. Seriously tho, hope you’re having a good weekend! 🙂
Thanks Greg, and I can’t wait for the next installments of the Murderbot stories 🙂
Yay for being all caught up!! Even if it doesn’t last very long!! *sends cake for effort* I’ve just go home from travelling so currently my internet is like stacked with 3989 blogs I need to visit and I’m just laughing tragically in the darkness. But anyway. YAY FOR NEW BOOKS! I think too many books is still always better than not enough. And those posts you linked to look fab so I’ll add them to my tabs even though they’re screaming at me.
Hope you have a good week! 😀
Yay for being all caught up indeed, says me, replying to your comment a full 11 days later xDD thanks for the cake! It was much needed.
I hope you are managing after your trip! LOL I believe your number might actually only be exagerrated by like… 3 blogs xD hope you’re holding up!
Yep, you’re right about n+1 books indeed being better than none!
It’s incredible how much I like audiobooks now. I was hesitant to start, but now I love them. Being able to get some “reading” done while I drive or clean or shop is fabulous.
I know, everyone seems hesitant about audiobooks to begin with 🙂 although I still prefer text to speech rather than real narrators, cause they, uhm, put on airs xD I dislike a fancy narrator who tries too much 😀
I really need to give my house a good deep cleaning this year. Hope you do get to find time to relax before your next few busy weekends.
Happy Reading
JoLee
Mine
Thank you 🙂
Rosie Colored Glasses looks tempting. Enjoy your books and your week.
I’m off to check some of your links.
Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Thank you!
Ohhh cannot wait for The State of ARC!! I am so excited since it will be my first one!!
Aghh I need to clean the flat as well but I never have enough time do that properly….
Been working this weekend and finally tomorrow or actually today will make a surprise birthday party for my dad so I am very excited about this!
Also I am glad to say that I am visiting more amazing bookish blogs and getting to know amazing people in our community
Always YES for new books!!
<3
I hope your surprise party went well 🙂 sorry it took me so long to reply your comment! Been so busy myself. And I’m so glad to know that you’ve expanded your blogosphere horizons, and I’ve seen you active in the groups, which makes me very happy to know you’re enjoying them 🙂
Thankk youu and no worries sometimes we have to adult and this part takes the biggest part of our lives (unfortunately)
The surprise party turned out better than we expected ^^
And I am really happy that I am being more active and participating in groups and memes like yours and interacting more with our fellow book lovers :)))
Yes, unfortunately! That’s great about the surprise party 😀 and yeah, definitely fun to participate more 🙂
Congrats on getting caught up on blog posts. I haven’t written new posts in about 2 weeks, so I’m way behind. I hope you love your new books!
Thanks, Aj 🙂 I am so busy now though, I’m so glad I could schedule. A stroke of luck!
Yay for the class going well, and more yay for audiobooks. Six books in a week is awesome. I love productive weeks. Happy reading!
Thank you, Natalie!
Haha that explains the late replies to my comments but don’t worry, we all get it! Hope you don’t have much of a hectic week and WHOA 6 books in a week! That is some great progress+
It seems I am still getting it cause look at how late I am replying xD #life lol
And thank you 🙂
I’m still reading “listening” to Dragons of Future. I am raising my eyebrows that you only gave it three stars (but seriously already I can kind of see why )
I’M SO EXCITED TO THAT STATE OF THE ARC OH MY GOD
Hahaha I’m glad you were so excited, although I’m sorry I’m only answering your comment now 😀 yeah, that book just needed some worldbuilding! It was alright, but man. Having to fill up the gaps of a fantasy story is just not fun. The story should carry you off, not limp forward with you carrying it 😀
I can’t believe you manage to read six books a week!!??
I think I can do three max depending on the size? (currently reading the final empire which will probably take me weeks with how big it is).
also, yay for all being caught up! I have two posts secluded for next week which is better than nothing 😛
I can’t believe it either xD I don’t even know! It’s just that I was listening to them. If I visually read them, it takes me longer. Something about the book being ‘read to me’ makes it faster, somehow.
And I hope you can keep scheduling away 🙂
Thank you I love checking out the links each week.
Thanks Rosie, I’m glad the links are enjoyable 🙂
I love the cover on Dragon Queen — and am so intrigued by the story!
It was a total cover grab for me, although of course, when I looked at the blurb, I didn’t regret it 🙂
Freshwater sounds so good! SIX books!! Wow, girl hahaha I hope you’re feeling better now though <3 I'm currently reading RagDoll by Daniel Cole. I don't know if you're a fan of crime fiction but man, is it one gore of a book! I would recommend it if you're interested in that kind of fiction!
I don’t even know how the six books happened, it was weird xD oh no, I’m not a fan of crime fiction at all – I’m quite a sensitive girl. As far as any crime fiction goes, urban fantasy is the closest I’ll read xD otherwise, it’s just too negative for me. I don’t feel like reading about things that will make me scared of going out to the street :/
Audiobooks are the best when you have to clean! It makes the chore so much more fun!
I always tell myself I’m not gonna buy, nope, not doing it and I always end up buying more. Nice haul!
Well, I rarely buy, it’s more that I request, but in a way, that’s even worse, cause then I have a deadline to read it by 😀 haha.. thanks!
Rose Colored Glasses sounds sad but interesting to me! Good haul of books this week, enjoy!
I’m very irregular with my posting, some weeks every day, some only one or two. Well, life gets in the way sometimes. Have a good week, Evelina!
Thank you, Kari 🙂 every day! Wow, I could never do that. I have to stick to my schedule 😀
Yay, you mentioned me! 😛 And I just realized I have not visited your blog for the entire last week. Which is quite not possible right? Damn where did the time all go? Anyway am recitifying the situation and going on a post hop right away.
I know, I always feel like time does exactly that 😀 and now I haven’t been on your blog for just as long, if not more! But then again, it’s March 5th, and I’m replying comments from Feb 25 😀 so you know… #life LOL
It sounds like it’s been a MUCH better week, Evelina – I’m glad your latest teaching gig has been a happier experience! All Systems Red is one I am wanting to get hold of – and huge congratulations on reading 6 books this week. I did, too, but I didn’t clean the house which remains FILTHY! Have a great week:).
Thanks SJ 🙂 All Systems Red was amazing! Super recommended.
6 books is awesome! I wish I could read just one. I have been struggling so hard this year with reading. I can’t believe Feb is almost over. This year needs to slow down, I feel like I haven’t accomplished anything yet.
I hope you have a great week, Evelina! Happy Reading! ox
Some years are busier than others – and to be fair, I wouldn’t read that many if I didn’t listen to them! Text to speech rocks 🙂 and you’re definitely right, this year is just rolling like crazy…
6 book in one week? Congrats! Also, good job on the class and deep-cleaning the house. Such a productive week!
I am trying to organize all my ARCs and at one point will join State of the ARC – I should, I really fell behind this month! And I am really excited for the post on Linkups – it annoys me a bit when people just link up and do not comment back.
I think after two weeks of no hauls you deserve some books!
Yep, a productive week indeed, it seems 🙂 oh yeah, I figured maybe you should join State of the ARC, cause you always haul so many awesome ARCs every week – and I always get ideas on what to request from your blog – but that tends to get you more ARCs than you’re able to read usually 😀 at least. That’s what happens to me. So I thought the situation looked familiar 😀
I want to join, but I am too scared of how unorganized I am and I know State of the ARC will help me. So maybe March is the month for me – I will even add it on my blogging calendar (cause now I have one!)
Well, in that case! We will be waiting for you on March 28 🙂
It’s on my blogging calendar!
Yay! Will be looking forward to your post 🙂 <3
You’re a reading machine this week! I have Freshwater on my list now. And I did some deep cleaning too. Still more to do but making progress. My book haul the past few weeks and been slim to none but that will change soon when the pre-orders start arriving. LOL
Yay for deep cleaning 🙂 although we still have tons of snow, so I can’t say it’s spring cleaning or anything 😀
Oh yes. Audiobooks are a lifesaver when it comes to getting cleaning around the house done. Hope you’re having a great weekend!
Thank you 🙂
6 books? *blink* *blink*
Seriously, that’s awesome. I hope they were great, too! Thank goodness for audio! That is how I clean my house, too.
Some were great 🙂 yeah, it’s only because of audio!
You had a busy and productive week indeed! I usually keep one audio ob hand each week for while working 😉 I often have to fall back on audio when I suffer a spell, so I have come to really appreciate them. I need to look up All Systems Red. Fresh Water is definitely on my TBR. I have been eyeballing it for several months waiting haha. Now I just need to pick up a copy. Have a wonderful week!
Thanks, Danielle! While working – lucky! I have a job where I need to concentrate on things a lot, like replies, calculations… So I can’t do any listening, I prefer complete silence – even music throws me off. So I don’t have that luxury 🙂 sometimes I wish I was a designer or something – I’d be drawing, and think of all the books I’d listen to! 🙂
And do look up All Systems Red! It was AMAAAAAZING. And Freshwater is also super worth it 🙂
I would love to read Dragon Queen! I hope you have a great week of reading. I still have to hookup on Twitter with the group. I do not want to move my blog. I am happy where I am at for now. If I do I will just buy a website outright and then transfer to it. That’s something for the future!
Mary #SundayRoundup #7
Yeah, I definitely agree, self-hosted is a good way to go if you do move 🙂 and thank you!
Ah congrats on reading 6 books this week! I’m off to blog hop from some of those links so thanks for that 🙂 hope you have a great week 🙂
Thanks, Clo! 🙂
Cleaning and reading 6 books – you rock. Looks like you grabbed some good books this week. Hope you have a great one!
Thanks, Barb 🙂
Remarque’s “Alls quiet on the western front” is one of my favorites – I hope you enjoy the short stories! I haven’t read them myself, but they look tempting 🙂 And I’m very much guilty of the same thing. I get a little too comfortable with my lack of book haul, and then seem to go and buy All The Books 😀 At least you’ve been a on a good reading kick? 🙂
Oh yeah, I’ve read like three or four books by Remarque and loved all of them as well, so I’m sure I will 🙂
6 books in one week? Wow.. that’s impressive. I hope your still able to relax a little 😉
Have a great week and happy reading!
Surprisingly, the 6 books were sort of…half the month. I don’t know what I did the other three weeks xD xD
You cleaned your whole house??
I only just manage to do our whole caravan in one week!
I’ve got my State of the ARC ready for tomorrow. There’s good and not so good 🙂
Well, the “whole” house is an apartment, so a bedroom, a living room, a bathroom and a kitchen. Apart from one cabinet, I cleaned EVERYTHING xD even the inside of the fridge and the kitchen cabinets. Okay, I didn’t clean the balcony – but it’s -20C out, I want to live xD maybe in spring 😀
Oh wow. You got a lot done this week. It sounds like what my week will be like. I have company flying out on Friday, so I will be trying to catch up and schedule things in advance for the blog, read as much as humanly possible to make the other possible, and I always go nuts and deep clean the house when company comes out to stay. LoL So, I could definitely use some of your tips for how you managed it all this week. I already have an audiobook loaded on my mp3 player ready to go. LoL
Well, you should have it sorted if you have the audiobook 😀 I would just say amp up the listening speed 😀 and get a good night’s sleep! Lol 😀 but really, good luck, sounds like a tough week coming up 🙂
Yay for a productive reading week AND a great haul! Um, also that deep clean of the house sounds amazing too. You basically had the perfect week in my mind. AND yay for a good teaching experience!! Can’t wait to read all your new posts this week 🙂
Thanks JJ 🙂 yeah, I feel like this will have been my most efficient week of the year cause I mean really xD I can’t pull it off again 😀
I’ve had a slow week but I’ve read and written a few reviews. It’s been quiet but I’m reading Caraval right now and I hauled a few books. Hope you have a wonderful week!
Thanks!
Ooh, seeing the word castle in a title aaaaalways gets my attention, haha. Hope you enjoy the new books!
I hope so, thanks 🙂
6 books? 😀 lucky, definitely worth getting more books as a reward for that. Sounds like your week was pretty exciting. Hope the next is just as good.
Yeah, I don’t even know how I managed the 6 books, it’s beyond me 😀 thanks!
I love audio books for working out and chores! Glad your teaching went well. Happy reading! 🙂
Thank you!
Hahahaha had a feeling that you’d end up getting more because of non-haul AND speed-reading lately!!! 😀 But 6 ain’t so bad though. I’m sure some of us can tell you about their 10 books + hauls at a bi-weekly pace hahah
I mean, I know, I know – I’m so transparent 😀 I was all oblivious to this fact of the future, until someone said that this is going to happen (you’re not the only one xD) and then I was like WELL NOW I JUST CAN’T _NOT_ DO IT. :DDDD it was totally like that 😀
Yeah, it’s not so bad xD I mean, maybe I can catch up to it, with the way I’ve been reading faster and faster :DDD
Congratulations for being caught up on your blog post, what a wonderful feeling 🙂 You go girl, six books this week 🙂 Have a great week.
Thank you!
Dragon’s Future looks interesting! I’ll look for your review! I love all things dragons, lol.
I’m glad teaching wasn’t so bad this time! It’s what I did pre-babies. I’ll get back to it eventually.
Do You Dog-ear?
Teaching is a tough job! But I hope you can get back to it 🙂 meanwhile, I’m glad I only have to teach once every two weeks or so.
And Dragon’s Future was, sadly, disappointing – no world building!
6 books in a week? Well, that is definitely incredible 😀 I barely read in February. I can’t wait this month to be over. And looks like a good haul, though I have no idea about all these books 😀 And this is definitely NOT that big of a haul 😀 At least, it is shorter than mine 😛
Yeah, that mostly happened because of text to speech 😀 miracles, I say!
Six books in a week? Well done, you! I wish I could manage to do as many things as you did last week, haha.
Ronnie @ Paradise Found
Thank you, Ronnie! The key is text to speech and a broom xD no, but really. I wouldn’t have read that much if not for the ability to listen!
February has been a fast month. I mean, while January went pretty slow, I can’t believe February is almost ending. Why does time keep flying?!
Six books in a week is a huge accomplishment. Congratulations!!!!
Well, a bookworm needs to haul books. =P I hope you enjoy your new books.
Happy readings! 😉
Both of those flew by for me xD I don’t know why, honestly.. Time does fly 🙂 and thank you!
Wow Evelina, well done on reading 6 books in a week! I barely managed two and they were just okay books for me. I used to get loads read when I listened to audiobooks too, I think I need to start making more time for them, I haven’t listened to a single one this year! I hope you have a great week 🙂
Thank you! Yeah, somehow audiobooks just move mountains 🙂
Ahhh isn’t that the best feeling? to be all caught up with your blogging? I think I remember how it felt like 😉 Wow 6 books in a week?? HOW?? DO TELL! and you say audio books so I’m in awe because I couldn’t work while listening to a book. Clean yes. Not work though.
Looking forward to read what you thought of Son of Ares
Yeah, no other blogging achievement is quite like finally catching up with the posts 🙂 now if only I could catch up with those comments xD no end in sight 😀 6 books in a week though, that’s easy – I was cleaning the house ALL DAY (and I mean like till late evening, from right after breakfast), and I had my text to speech on. Listened to at least a few ARCs that way xD I finished 4 that day, some were already started, but you know. And then two books just during the rest of the week, just… Read more »
