Book hauls, Sunday post

Sunday post #34 Bookmail!!!

Hi everyone! How is your Sunday? So far mine’s alright. So let’s talk about my week in a nutshell:

  • about 90% of this week is not really something I want to talk about x.x
  • mostly due to various health problems all at once, but I’m okay now!
  • some good things happened too, luckily! I went out with colleagues on Friday and it was like the best work party EVERRRR
  • and also do you remember how I never get any bookmail? Well, the rule has been broken! Lo and behold the beauty:

Yes, I was immediately wearing that ribbon in my hair when I took it off the book. Anyhow, without further ado, let’s see what has happened on the blog and what I’ve got planned next week!

~ Last Week On The Blog ~

Last week I reviewed a Doctor Who short story collection – for when you run out of episodes, of couse. Then I also reviewed one of my favorites of the year – An Unkindness of Ghosts. I urge you to check it out if you still haven’t, cause it’s diverse, emotional, deep and very well written. And I also posted a list of books that are realistic about the space experience, because I feel like knowing about the realities of your scifi is also important.

~ Coming Up Next Week~

Next week of my blog might just be pretty epic!! First of all, I’ll be wrapping SciFi Month up with a nice discussion about why reading scifi baffles some people and how that might be due to the “language barrier” it has. I hope you enjoy the discussion! Then on Wednesday we’re doing our monthly State of the ARC, so if you’re willing to survey your own situation, please link up! And on Friday I’ll be reviewing Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials – a series I loved immensely. So drop by the blog next week!

~ Little Book Haul ~

I’m basically writing this month off. No restrain. I have already hauled 16 books, and my TBR is glaring at me madly. #noregrets

~ In The Bookish Community ~

Lory @ The Emerald City Book Review shares her thoughts on what makes a nonfiction book a winner for her

Vlora @ Reviews and Cake joins up with Shannon @ It Starts At Midnight to talk about the most ridiculous promo requests they’ve received over the years

That’s this week, how has yours been? What are you reading? I’ll be waiting for your comments and news.

As usual, I’m linking up with the Sunday post meme at Kimba’s book blog and Stacking The Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews.

I’m Evelina and I try to blog about books that matter, with a bit of fun there too! Disability and equality will be topics you see a lot, but there’s also a lot of scifi, fantasy and… GIFs. I’m also the proud founder of #ARCsAnonymous.

    1. It’s not 5!! Last week it was 5 :DD
And you’re the first one who’s commented on my post as well! Really am glad to have you back. Time flies, so I only picked up on the fact of how long you’ve been gone when I noticed your “last posts” and the grimdark one was on there, and I was like “but I read that aaaages ago” :0

  1. 4 books is not a little haul! Also, I hope the next week is better than this one for you. ❤️

    1. I always say “Little Haul” because it’s little compared to the big monthly one when I sum it up 😀 and okay, let’s face it, I’m just trying to make it sound better for myself xD
Sorry about not visiting your blog in a while! I know that I opened your TBR post yesterday on my phone and then fell asleep before I started reading it! So I’m not forgetting you, I’m just battling real life xD

      1. No problem at all! I’ve been slacking off on the blog commenting front a little too. I’m going on a 1-month vacation and work is craaaazy because of it. xD More power to you as you battle real life! 😀

    1. I know right??!!! I feel just like that! I’m all over kindle perks (don’t need to hold the book, have all my books with me…) but still.. Getting bookmail is just such a good feeling. I always feel guilty about STILL wanting bookmail, although I really sort of almost prefer my kindle :DDD we are funny creatures, huh.

  2. So sorry to hear about your health problems. That sucks. Glad to hear your doing better though. 😉
That new book looks lovely. I can’t wait to find out your thoughts about that one.
Your discussion sounds very interesting. I’ll have to check that one out.
Have a great week and happy reading.

    1. I’m also really behind, I never really watched pretty much anything with Capaldi 🙂 ’bout time we get back though, huh? It would be easy, with the new Doctor and all.

  3. I have to disagree with everyone telling you that 4 books isn’t a little book haul…Four books is absolutely miniscule. You’ve seen my hauls (and my STS posts don’t include the books I get in the mail or through Netgalley because I do those in different posts).

So you keep right on saying that your four book hauls are little, and I’ll be right here to back you up on that assessment. 🙂

    Have a great week.

    1. Yes! YES!!! Finally 😀 thank you! I know I’ve done smaller hauls, but I feel like 4 is not thaaaaat many 😀 (although I do feel like me and you *may* have a problem, unless you read at superhuman speeds.. I don’t :D)
We may have to form a Little Book Haul society one day. We can have little cups and saucers for tea, and keep hauling books in sets of 4 😀

  4. Yay for good book mail. One of the better things in life, I think. And sorry to hear the week was rough health- wise. Hope you are flying good now and have a better this week this time!

Looking forward to seeing your SciFi Month wrap up post. It’s been a fun month for SciFi!

    Have a great week! 🙂

  5. Haha yay for shiny new books 🙂 one can never have too many!

I’m looking forward to reading your sci-fi language barrier post for sure, because I am totally one of those; my eyes glaze over, like I’m reading one of my textbooks :/

    1. Well, unfortunately, I don’t provide any solution to the scifi language barrier 😀 but at least you know you’re not alone 🙂 many of the people I know have one! Luckily, there are lighter books than your typical scifi, and I hope people will recommend me those as a result of this post so I can maybe write an update post or something 🙂

  6. I hope you’re feeling better now, Evelina. 🙁 Nothing worse than a week ruined by health issues… Looking forward to your thoughts on Pullman’s series! Also super happy that you got bookmail!!!! Bookmails are the best, especially when they’re rare!! 😀

    1. Unfortunately, this week’s been even worse in terms of health :/ oh well. I hope it will get better soon 🙂 at least there’s bookmail. And an incredible amount of Amazon sales lately! My TBR this month… yeah, you’ll see next Sunday xD

  7. Oh wow, your bookmail is SO pretty.
I hope you enjoy the book and the ones you’re planning to read this week. Sorry to hear about your health problems. Hopefully this week is way better. Have a wonderful week and happy reading, my friend. ❤️
