Book hauls, Sunday post

Sunday post #33 Golden Son has finally arrived!

Good morning everyone! How was your week? It seems I’ve got the weekly amnesia again, which must mean… I must’ve been working a lot again πŸ˜€ however, I know that my week involved:

  • lots of good brownie
  • lots of great reading
  • my Golden Son arrival! Here’s the beauty:

~ Last Week On The Blog ~

SciFi Month is still full blast, and although last week I made an exception for the review ofΒ Sweet Bean Paste, a wonderful story of unlikely friendships, loneliness and illness, the rest of the posts were all SciFi Month material. You should read the review ofΒ The Diamond Age if you like detailed, society oriented and big picture scifi, aren’t afraid of long books and appreciate steampunk. And I don’t know if I need to explain much aboutΒ Gemina? You’ve probably heard enough about that one already.

~ Coming Up Next Week~

Coming up next is the last full week ofΒ SciFi Month! And while I had a blast, I’m also looking forward to posting about other things again. Yay for variety! Next week though,Β I’m finally posting a review of one of my latest favorites that I’ll surely be rereading – An Unkindness Of Ghosts. And I’ll also be postingΒ a discussion / list type post about the books you should read if you want space-realistic scifi, and also why I think they are realistic about the environment or experience of space, compared to other scifi.

~ Little Book Haul ~

I’ve totally let myself go last week… I’m sad to say that last month’s progress is a thing of the past! But then again, hey. Maybe I’m just making a safe cushion of books for myself, cozy in the knowledge that I will not run out. Eh? And just look at what an amazing color scheme they make. I would also like to mention thatΒ Behold The Dreamers might still be on sale on Amazon, and that I’m quite excited aboutΒ Clara Voyant, which seems like a super cute middle grade book.

Hannah @Β So Obsessed With gives advice on how to find time for reading – her post is primarily about reading with a baby in the house, but I feel like it works for other kinds of being super busy as well!

Shannon @ It Starts At Midnight talks about blogging seasons and their tendencies. You’ll find yourself smiling and nodding your head to her findings!

And that’s all for this week! I hope to catch up with all of you this week cause I’ve been sort of away from the blogs last week.

As usual, I’m linking up with theΒ Sunday post meme at Kimba’s book blogΒ and Stacking The Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews.

I’m Evelina and I try to blog about books that matter, with a bit of fun there too! Disability and equality will be topics you see a lot, but there’s also a lot of scifi, fantasy and… GIFs. I’m also the proud founder of #ARCsAnonymous.

  1. One can never have too many books, it would be a terrible thing to run out, so you’ve definitely done yourself a favour by adding a few more to your shelves πŸ˜‰

  2. I am jealous you had lots of brownie. They’re my favorite. Clara Voyant looks adorable. Doesn’t the cover remind you of the movie poster for Almost Famous, where Kate Hudson is wearing the same sunglasses. hmmm.

    1. Lol I actually don’t know that movie, I’m not a movie watcher at all πŸ˜€ but ditto on the cover being super cute! Can’t wait to read it, I mean, it comes out only in May, but I think I will succumb to the temptation sooner πŸ˜€

    1. Yep, definitely recommended πŸ™‚ well, you generally post a lot of sci-fi, so maybe it’s fair that your SciFi Month is sort of distributed through the entire year πŸ˜€

  3. I love getting new print books. Even though my e-books delight me, there is something very special about holding a lovely book. Enjoy yours!

I also believe in “making a safe cushion” of books so I will always have something to read.

I love the look of your book haul and also want to know more about Sweet Bean Paste. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

  4. Ahh Brownie!! You are making me hungry πŸ˜€ The cover of Golden Son is really pretty. I have heard great things about Red Rising series. I hope you enjoy this books too πŸ™‚

And your sci-fic month was awesome. There were so many great posts (although I didn’t get enough time to read each one of them πŸ™ ).
I hope you have a great week πŸ™‚

  5. Nice book haul. I also like to give myself a book cushion so I am never without πŸ™‚

Sweet Bean Paste looks like a good one.

Hope you have a great week.

  6. I feel thoroughly ashamed that as a science fiction author and HUGE fan, so far this month I haven’t read a SINGLE straight sci fi book! How did THAT happen?? I haven’t read The Diamond Age, either… *sigh* I hope this coming week is a good one, Evelina:)

  7. Your new books look awesome. I hope you enjoy them all. I’m limiting my purchase of printed books (only old TOP favorites) for minimalist reasons. But I do love getting/buying actual books. Glad that you finally got one. I hope you enjoy it. ❀️
Have a wonderful week and happy reading, my friend.

  8. Nice cover on Golden Son for sure. And yay for sciFi Month- I haven’t been participating like I thought I would, but I did spend last night catching up on some of the posts, and it’s been fun! Hard to believe it (and November) are almost over.

    Have a great week Evelina!

  9. I have a lot of unread books lying around and I agree that it’s nice to know you won’t run out of anything to read, that there’s another adventure you haven’t come across, waiting for you just a few feet away πŸ™‚

  10. Nice to see that you got your hands on Golden Son!! That’s actually one of those rare YA series that I’d totally like to try some day. How much would you recommend it to me? Is there anything to be careful about that series? Wonderful week you had and hope the coming week will be just as great, Evelina! πŸ™‚

    1. The thing is… it’s not YA. It was mismarketed very badly, I feel. There are rape scenes, killing scenes, incredible amounts of violence and gore. It’s very dark, and very strong. And it has none of the YA banter. It’s an actual serious book. So I just don’t see how it could have been marketed as YA πŸ™‚ maybe they just wanted to boost the sales, and I guess it worked, but lordie…it’s not teens-safe at all.

  11. I definitely think that’s the positive way to think of getting all those books. LOL!! I keep requesting books on Netgalley. I just can’t help myself. Sigh..
I hope you’re having a good week. Happy Reading!
