Sunday post

Sunday post #14 Twittersplosion and my first 100 followers!!!

Linking up with the usual crew for the Sunday meme at Kimba’s book blog.

~ On The Blog ~

This week was one hell of a week, I had way too much work and way too many health troubles. But as stressful as it was, something really exciting happened! In the start of the week, I tweeted about wanting to follow more book bloggers and it turned into the most exciting Twittersplosion and blog hop ever! Courtesy of which… Today I finally have 100 followers! Super exciting. Here’s the culprit, and it’s as close to viral as I’ve ever been, haha:

I want to thank every single one of you who followed me through this blog hop, and I’m super excited to have so many new bookish friends. I will never forget that Monday when I was up till late answering tweet notifications and every time I’d turn away there would be another batch of 30 in the Twitter window!

Anyway, I have posted twice last week, and both of these books come out on Tuesday, so you can grab them next week!

~ Coming Up Next Week ~

Next week I will finally have a discussion! It’s going to be a fun one, so stay tuned. Then there will be mini-reviews for three photo books. And I will also be posting a review for the sequel of Anne of Green Gables – Anne of Avonlea, for the #AnneReadalong2017.

~ Reading In July ~

Miss Confederation: The Diary of Mercy Anne Coles Anne of the Island The Thousand Tiny Miracles of Living Twice (Angel Aid Book 1) Red Rising (Red Rising #1)

I’ve actually got a plan for July! For once I’ve got a reading plan! (don’t ask me how it’s going to turn out.) Basically, I’ve got a few ARCs to gobble down and a few other interesting projects, so I’ve made an exciting plan out of it. First of all, Miss Confederation comes out quite soon and I still haven’t started reading it. It’s a real journal of a girl, from year 1864, so of course I’m all over it. Then there’s Anne of the Island for the readalong. The Thousand Tiny Miracles of Living Twice is very exciting, because it’s the first book that I sent a request for straight to the author, and Katarina West has been kind enough to reply and say yes! It’s a sweet summer read, something that will lift my mood, as it’s about a woman who ends up being helped by an angel. And Red Rising is for a fun cross-post bossy buddy read with Marta @ The Somewhere Library! I’m looking forward to it, and there will be a dedicated post about that on Monday, the 17th.

~ What I’ve been reading lately ~

I don’t know when exactly I’ll be putting up reviews for these books, cause I’m just that way, but I wanted to share with you that I read them, that they were awesome and that they’re truly recommended! So like, mini reviews, I guess? First of all, I just finished Gemina. Need I tell you how awesome it was? You’ve probably heard it from left and right already. But since I’m such a trusted source to you (haha… But seriously, I’m looking at you, Dragonfly @ Our Familiarium), I will just say: Go Get That Gemina Right Now. And if you haven’t read Illuminae yet, well then, you’ve got more problems to solve!

Then I’ve also recently finished Omnia, a Blogger Shame ARC that has been lying around since last year, and for shame! I gobbled it up in a few hours, and it was as tasty as cupcakes with the pinkest topping ever. It’s a kids’ book, but it’s definitely the right kind for adults as well. It’s about a kid who goes looking for a plushie of his sisters that he accidentally threw away, and ends up finding himself in the weirdest and biggest magical store in the world. Here’s a few quotes for you to tell you what to expect:

And that’s it for this week! What news have you got?

I’m Evelina and I try to blog about books that matter, with a bit of fun there too! Disability and equality will be topics you see a lot, but there’s also a lot of scifi, fantasy and… GIFs. I’m also the proud founder of #ARCsAnonymous.

  1. Congratulations on your success with the follower explosion! I hope you enjoy Red Rising – it was one of my favourite series of last year. Lots of folks reckon it is very like Hunger Games, but any surface similarity fades after the first book when it turns into something quite different. Have a great week – My Sunday Post –

    1. Thanks! Well that’s good I haven’t really read The Hunger Games then, huh? 🙂 I have no hopes or expectations, so that’s usually good! When you go into the book like that. I will probably like it 🙂

  2. Congrats on 100! 😀 AND I’m just so jealous over your reading plan! I’m so bad at planning my reading and I feel like if I start doing it then it hopelessly backfires on me… Red Rising is one of my favorites so I hope you like it!

    1. Thanks! It ABSOLUTELY backfires at me too, usually 😀 but lately I’ve found that the trick is, like… To rather plan a range of books to choose from. So I’ll plan 15 and read 5 of those. But hey, it’s movement in the right direction, right?

  3. I love Laura Gallego she is such and amazing author especially in her early works, have you read any of those?
I really hope you enjoy all your reading for July, especially Red Rising .

  4. I saw your Twitter explode! I’m sooo happy for you! <3

I really can't wait to get my hands on Illuminae, which I've heard such amazing things about.

Omnia sounds amazing! I bet my kiddo would love that.

  5. Congratulations on getting new followers! Awesome. Sorry, I missed your tweet. I think I’ve followed you already but I need to make sure just in case I haven’t. Anyway, getting a reading plan is great. I’ve failed every time I tried to make one so I quit. Haha. I always got distracted whenever I set a plan to read certain books. Glad that it works for you. Happy reading.

    1. Yeah, you already do 🙂 I think our timezones are very different, that’s why you wouldn’t have seen it. Thanks anyway! And reading plans never seemed to work for me before… but now it seems I plan a range of books to choose from. So I’ll plan 15 and read 5 of them, but at least it partly works 🙂

  6. Sounds like a good week! I’m totally on your side with the awesomeness of GEMINA and I strongly recommend it for everyone! Funny story–my husband is not-very-often reader, so I was trying to convince him to read ILLUMINAE because I knew he would love it. It took WEEKS for him to ever start it, but when he did, he would not put it down. Flew straight through it, then through GEMINA. It was so funny. When OBSIDIO comes out, I’m going to have to fight him for it!

    1. I know what you mean. My Bf is just like that. But I think The Illuminae Files would work especially well for these people because it’s such an unusual format! And it’s really easy to bust blast through. I think I will convince my Bf to read it one day as well.

  7. I read Gemina right after BEA last year, and am so sad that Obsidio was not done for BEA this year. It seems like forever since I have been in that world. I am by no means an SFF reader, but I adore that series. I love the Anne books. They bring me way back. I hope you feel better this week, and enjoy all your books.

    1. Illuminae and Gemina are not really SFF though 🙂 it’s more like action that happens to be set in a space ship. It’s very different from typical SFF. And yes! Obsidio is much too far away! Grrr

  8. Congratulations on 100 followers! I’m still working to get 50, but I’m getting there slowly, but surely. I am so happy I found your blog through that Twitter post. It was most definitely a success!

    1. I jumped from 42 to 100! So it might just happen to you as well aim high! 😀 you’ll get there. And thank you, you’re so kind 🙂 I’m sorry if I haven’t visited yours yet, I still have a very long list 😀 I shall visit it now.

  9. Congrats on the followers!

I am curious about Gemina, as you are right. It is everywhere!

Thanks for visiting my blog, and yes, I did change my theme, my header, and my background…during Bloggiesta. I’m enjoying it.

    Have a great week!

    1. I know right 😀 my reading plans also almost always hinge on ARCs. They’re kind of like school reading lists that way, I guess? Sometimes I feel like that 😀 and thank you! Good luck trying to not request, doesn’t seem to work much for me 😀 😀 haha

  11. I think I saw some of that Twitter blog hoppage and it was awesome. Great idea! 🙂

Gemina is of course awesome (go Ella!) and Omnia- yay! I buddy reviewed that with a few other blggers a while back and it was a blast. Such a cool book!

The said ‘hoppage’ was definitely fun! (Love that word :D)

        1. Thank you! I shall check it out. Maybe it can inspire me to write my own soon 😀 and hey! You wrote that like several days before I started my own blog!

  12. There was a lot of book blogger love on Twitter this week which is always nice!! Gemina was sich a great book – Glad you loved it!! Have a great week!

    1. Yeah, it’s truly amazing to be part of something like that 🙂 it’s like starting a wave in a stadium, or an anchor in a concert. Good feeling 🙂
You have a great week too!

I DIDN’T KNOW THERE WAS AN ANNE OF GREEN GABLES SEQUEL! I read it back in 4th grade and I remember liking it. But now I really don’t remember any of it… XD

I’ve had Red Rising recommended to me and seen it around. I should probably pick that one up.

  14. Congratulations on your new followers! I will try to follow you as well, but I have forgotten my password for WordPress. Gemina is a wonderful book! I’m so glad you liked it. I will go right now and follow you on Twitter. Have a wonderful week.

    1. Thanks. Whoops! Well, you can just follow by email or Bloglovin’ (I just need to add the button, but you can search and find me there if you use the platform). I guess no point in following through WP if you don’t use the reader much 🙂 thanks for following me on Twitter!

    1. Oh dang! I forgot to visit you! So sorry, heading there now 🙂 was so busy writing last weekend. All dem future blog posts, lol. Thanks for dropping by 🙂

    1. Hahah xD I know you’re totally like my biggest fan! It’s enough that I WRECK your TBR, I am not worried one bit, you can keep vacationing happily 😀
I think you might be able to, I still have the tweet pinned so you can find it easily. The hop was fun! I still have like 20 addresses left to visit 😀 hah. But I’ve found a lot of interesting new people 🙂
And yes! I am reading Red Rising! Buddy reads rock 🙂

  16. CONGRATS ON 100 FOLLOWERS!!! I am so proud to count myself in this list. You are an amazing blogger and a wonderful member of the bookish community. I am so glad you’ve found a following– particularly because I know how hard you’ve worked towards this. It’s lines like this: ” I gobbled it up in a few hours, and it was as tasty as cupcakes with the pinkest topping ever.” <— I adore you. Please write more like this. 😉

I LOVE Gemina and Red Rising. I'm just finishing Morning Sun, the final Red Rising book, right now for a Sunday book club. I'm super excited, and I have lots of conflicting thoughts. I look forward to hearing what you have to say. Also– yay for buddy read! This is just a warm up; you can get some experience with this buddy read and then advise us for our Attachment read. 😀

    1. THANK YOUUUUUU!!! Honestly, you’re one of my most treasured followers! And if I don’t tag you in all the challenges and tags, it’s just because I don’t want it to get old 😀 (hint: the coming weeks will have a lot of tags cause I pretty much got tagged for ALL OF THEM.)

And yes for Red Rising! I remember you mentioning and recommending it to me months ago. You were not wrong 🙂 I am already wondering when and where I will get the other books in the series, because they’re probably expensive on Amazon right now, and I don’t want to wait for once xD it’s such a good story! Very immersive.

As for the cupcakes and the topping, you must absolutely read Omnia. The only reason it doesn’t have a Newbery is probably cause the world is a ridiculous place.

And yes, I’m definitely still waiting for an opening in your schedule to read Attachments! Maybe sometime in autumn?
